Visegrad Fund Project

2021-2023

Title of the project: V4 String Quartet Collaboration of All Four V4 Countries: Cultural Events, a Tour and a Debut Album

The V4 String Quartet project brought together distinguished musicians from Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Poland to celebrate the rich musical traditions of the Visegrad countries, through both historical and contemporary repertoire.

Key highlights of the project:

  • Formation of the V4 String Quartet with one artist from each Visegrad country,

  • Commissioning of four new works by leading composers (Gergely Vajda, Iris Szeghy, Jiří Kabát, Kuba Krzewiński),

  • Public performances across all four countries, including concerts in Budapest’s House of Music, Levoca’s Indian Summer Festival, the Eufonie Festival in Warsaw, and Hradec Králové in the Czech Republic,

  • A debut album featuring both classical and newly commissioned pieces.

The project emphasized international cooperation, supported creative exchanges between composers and performers, and showcased the cultural wealth of the V4 region to local and international audiences. The concerts, recordings, and partnerships established during the project continue to strengthen cross-border cultural ties and visibility for the Visegrad countries.

The project was coordinated by Cadenza Arts Management.
